We are a group of people from varied backgrounds - academic and professional with a common aim to better our public speaking and leadership skills by supporting each other in our fortnightly meet ups. Ours is the Hyderabad Chapter of Toastmasters International (TMI) and follows TMI guidelines. Toastmasters International is the leading movement devoted to making effective oral communication a worldwide reality. Through its members and clubs, Toastmasters International helps men and women learn the arts of speaking listening and thinking – vital skills that promote self-actualization, enhance leadership potential, foster human understanding and contribute to the betterment of mankind. It is basic to this mission that Toastmasters International continually expand its worldwide network of clubs, thereby offering ever greater numbers of people the opportunity to benefit from its programs.
President's Message
Hyderabad Toastmasters (HTM) is the first community club in the city of the Nizams. We are a Chartered Club of District 82 (comprising of clubs in India & Sri Lanka) affiliated to Toastmasters International, California, USA. Toastmasters International is the only global not-for-profit educational movement aimed at the personal development of an individual. Soft skills are the need of the hour in any profession. We offer a self-learning environment conducive to personal development in a fun-filled atmosphere. The true value from a toastmaster club is derived by participation and personal commitment. The most important take-away from the toastmasters movement often is the leadership skills that one inculcates. Do contact us for an invite to one of our meetings. After all the best proof of a cake is in the eating.
Toastmasters gave me the confidence to stand up and speak. Just being there in passive mode has given me the guts to go and stand in front of 150-180 people in my company's IT gathering for full 2 hours.. People from my organization who are reading this will realize the change... I used to be such a soft spoken and shy person even in my team meetings.. Standing up in front of so many people just after attending 5 Toastmasters meets passively... Most such organizations tend to be restricted to specific sub strata of society. The members were very warm and welcoming, all kudos to them.
